Why must I write the Tests?

 Why?

The Health Sciences Placement Tests (HeSPT) will be used to complement the National Grade 12 examinations by helping Admissions Committees decide which of their applicants will best cope with the academic rigour of university. The extent to which test results are used in admissions decisions may vary from one institution to another. In general, test results are combined with other information, such as scholastic records, etc. Standardised test scores also provide a way for Admissions Committees to compare the qualifications of applicants from a variety of school and educational backgrounds.

You write the tests once only, irrespective of the number of the member universities that you apply to. Your results are sent to the institutions to which you have applied and who request your results.

All Health Sciences applicants to any one or more of the participating institutions must take the tests. Candidates must have paid their testing fee of R200.00.
